Panzerfibel: Tigerfibel

The Akorol was produced by I.G. Farbenindustrie which contains toxic substances of Potassium Dichromate [重クロム酸カリウム] and Potassium Chromate [クロム酸カリウム]. It prevents the formation of corrosion in the radiator, suspending any debris or mineral deposits harmlessly within the mixture (*1), and the Glysantin was produced by the same company in 1928-1929 (*2).

You know well that Tigerfibel article in page 19 says a prohibition rule of mixture of Akorol [アコロオル] and Glysantin. I assumed that the reason is that it may generate some toxic gas.

However my thought is not correct because I found a 1942 report of I.G. Farbenindustrie: Das Verhalten von Glysantin-Wasser-Mischungen.

Here is summary of the report below. Now I'm guessing that the aim of Tigerfibel's instruction was to avoid wasting two corrosives with the chemical reaction.

When mixed with Glysantin and Akorol, a sludge is formed, but it is harmless. However, the chemical reaction between the two substances causes a loss of corrosion protection.
Therefore, care must be taken when changing the coolant at the change of seasons.
When replacing Glysantin coolant with Akorol coolant at the changeover to the warmer season, the radiator must be completely drained of Glysantin coolant before adding the Akorol coolant. Otherwise, the chemical reaction with the remaining Glysantin will result in the loss of corrosion protection.
When replacing Akorol coolant with Glysantin coolant at the start of the cold season, there is no problem even if a small amount of Akorol coolant remains in the radiator.

7) Verträglichkeit mit Akorol

Unter dem Namen Akorol befindet sich ein Mittel in Hande das den Kühlwasser zugesetzt wird um Korrosionen des Kühlmantels und des Kühlers zu vermeiden Die Anwendung eines derartigen Mittels beim Glysantin ist nicht notwendig, da dieses selbst ein Rostschutzmittel enthält Es ist jedoch su Beginn und Ende des Winters möglich, daß mischungen des Glysantins mit Akorol-Wasser eintreten. Dabei wirkt Akorol chemisch auf das Glysantin ein und wird dabei verbraucht. Abgesehen von einer ganz geringen Schlammbildung ist dies unbedenklich. Will man ungedreht aber nach Ablassen des Glysantins im Frühjahr den Kübler durch Anwendung von Akorolwasser das Kühlsystem mit Akorolwasser füllen, so muß durch mehrmaliges Ausspülen das Glysantin völlig entfernt werden, da sich das Akorol sonst hieran verbraucht.

Kühlwasserzusatzmittel "Akorol"

Um Rost- und Kesselsteinbildung in den Kühlern der Kfz.zu vermeiden, ist dem Kühlwasser das Schutzmittel "Akorol" zuzusetzen. "Akorol" wird in Packungen (Rollen) zu je 10 Tabletten abgegeben. Für jedes Liter Kühlwasser ist eine Tablette zu verwenden. Die Tabletten sind in den oberen Wasserkasten des Kühlers einzu-schütten.

Vor Verwendung von "Akorol" ist der Kühlwasserumlauf grindlich zu spillen.

Nach Befüllung mit "Akorol" sind die Kühler der Kfz. mit Hin-weisschildern zu versehen.

Die Verwendung von "Akorol" in Verbindung mit einem Frostschutzmittel ist verboten.

Akorolhaltiges Wasser darf nicht als Trinkwasser oder fir an-dere Zwecke verwandt werden, da es stark giftig ist.

Die benötigten Akorolpackungen und Hinweisschilder sind beim Bezirkschef Qu/H-mot bis zum 20.Juni 1942 anzufordern.

2) 冷却水添加剤「Akorol」

車両のラジエーターに錆やスケールが発生するのを防ぐため、保護剤「Akorol」を冷却水に添加する。「Akorol」は10錠ずつパック（ロール）になっている。冷却水1リットルに対して1錠を使用する。錠剤は、ラジエーターの上部水タンクに注入する。

「Akorol」を使用する前に、冷却水循環を完全に排出させなければならない。

「Akorol」を充填する際は、車両のラジエーターに説明プレートを取り付けること。

「Akorol」と不凍液の併用は禁止されている。

Akorolを含む水は、毒性が強いため、飲料水やその他の用途に使用してはならない。

必要なAkorolパックと説明プレートは、1942年6月20日までに地区長Qu/H-motに要請すること。
