Paper craft tanks in TAMIYA NEWS magazine No.619-620

It's my honour to announce that my two articles were published in the TAMIYA NEWS magazine, No.619 and No.620. I wrote these articles about the historical research of the paper craft tanks which were made in WW2 Germany.

This document that I counted the number of parts in the Allied and German tanks that were introduced in the these articles.

You will find not only the number of parts, but also that the color scheme of the actual printing is different between the Allied tanks for the recognition and the German tanks.

Tiger II driver's photo manual

Panzer driver served maintenance and repairing work for all device of hull (except for radio system). They must have covered engine, gearbox, wheels, tracks and battery, etc in broad, so the driver's manual needs to show each procedure of the work with picture.
We have seen the publications like this in various archives or collections so far, however I found this photo manual has the original monochrome photographs of the Tiger II driver's manual.
By the below presumption and the facts, it is considered made as the draft manual for the compilation of the official D 656/43 (Tiger II driver's manual) and is assumed to have been in the possession of "Oberfeldwebel Lessinghaus" prior to 1st September, 1944.
And it's not beyond my presumption but "Oberfeldwebel Lessinghaus" might be trained as tank driver and served the editorial work of D 656/43.

Compare the handwritten "Handbuch für Tiger B" title text on the front cover, which is very similar to the text of the signature "Ofeldw. Lessinghaus = Oberfeldwebel Lessinghaus" on inside of the front cover.
The inside cover reads D 656/43, and the book is accompanied by 116 black-and-white photos that closely resemble diagram of the work in the printed edition of D 656/43, with the same description of their works.
The following pages of the printed edition (list of manuals relating to the Tiger II, engine air-cooling treatment diagram, gasoline tank and engine refueling tube connection diagram, turret drawing, and hull rear view) are not attached to this photo manual. It is assumed that these pages would be added in the work on the printed edition of D 656/43.
The printed edition of D 656/43 was issued on 1st September, 1944.

It's thick and heavy. Hard cardboard cover and about 120 thick paper pages are tightened by three steel bolts and two steel plates (rusted).

Maybach HL210 illustration on the back cover.

On the back of the front cover,a handwritten Maybach HL230 structural drawing has a polite cursive signature of "Ofeldw. Lessinghaus = Oberfeldwebel Lessinghaus".

Several reference manuals are listed, but we can't find the name of D 656/47 Tigerfibel for Tiger II.

Size and weight, Engine, etc specification

All monochrome photograph is very good condition without damages and spots.

The combat history book of the s.Pz.Abt.503 (The first edition)

The combat history of the s.Pz.Abt.503 German language first edition. A famous Tiger tank commander: Alfred Rubel and veterans of the s.Pz.Abt.503 edited for their memorial, and published by themselves by 250 books in 1990. This is the one of them.

I think it's better to search a combat history of Leutnant Zabel. But it must take too much time, because the book has 578 pages plus attachments almost 150 pages involves many reports and a reprint Tigerfibel.

Later I found a information about Leutnant Zabel, finally.

The English edition book published in 2008 has 439 pages.

Study of T.Z.F 9b (under construction)

Now it's under investigating the operation of T.Z.F 9b (Turret sighting telescope) of Tiger I, in parallel with the translation work of Tigerfibel.
Here are two sighting telescope views (lower and upper) and parts list.

Paper model kit; Panzer II, Panzer III and Stug III

Two paper model kits from my collection.

Panzer II and Panzer III paper model kits 1/20 scale were printed in WW II Germany.
It's a little bit off-topic from the Panzer manuals, but it's interesting that the paper model kits were used as the tank recognition training in WWII.
These kits were printed in thick paper are approx 70 x 50 cm in size.
Also a "Stug III" paper model kit existed in those days.

Here is a Stug III paper model kit below.

Unfortunately the image is low resolution, and I could not find the original one.

A adhesive ”UHU, Der Alleskleber” leaflet tells us this paper model kit was used for boys (but who were engaged in the military?) in those days.
"Auch bei den Modellierbogen der Heerestypen gibt es Schwierigkeiten. Sorgfältig müssen die Ketten der Panzerwagen ausgeschnitten werden. Um einen sauberen Nachbau zu erreichen, bestreichen wir die Kleberänder nur mit ganz wenig wasserfestem, farblosen.
